If you’ve been reading along, then you know it’s God’s heart to say to each of His kids, “Let Me adorn your life. Let Me adorn you!”
We’re in Part 3 of getting past the 11 ways you may be blocking the manifestation of your blessings. If you have not read Part 1 and Part 2, you will want to do so first.
In Part 3 of this series, I want to dive into three more hindrances you may be encountering that are preventing you from experiencing God’s blessings. With each, I will share how to overcome them.
Remember, we want to make sure we start from the understanding that it was God’s idea to bless His kids. We want to start at the foundation that He’s infinitely good and knows how to lavishly bless His kids without spoiling their character.
Let’s keep breaking down these hindrances and overcome!
Hindrance #4: Overcoming Feeling Unworthy
Are you feeling unworthy? This critical voice says something like, “You know you’ll never be good enough!”
When I talked to the Lord about this issue He said, “It’s not about your worthiness, I made you worthy. I made you a masterpiece. I know your true worth and I was unwilling to do without you!”
God’s word says you are a “poem” or a “masterpiece” to the world (Ephesians 2:10). Moreover, Romans 8:15-17 (TPT) says:
15 And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” 16 For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”
17 And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures, for indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has.
The issue of unworthiness often stems out of religious condemnation. If this is the case, you’ll want to dive into the 3rd hindrance in Part 2 of this series.
But, if the unworthiness you’re feeling stems more out of a past with rejection, abuse, or abandonment, this will require some heart healing.
Here’s my suggestion:
Ask the Lord if it’s safe to take you to the places where you were rejected, abused, or abandoned. Let Him minister to those places in your heart. Spend some time with this. Ask the Lord to show you how He sees you after you do this. If you’re really stuck I recommend investing in whatever ministry the Lord leads you to, in order to get the help you need. You’re worth whatever it takes to embrace and rest in your incalculable worth!
Hindrance #5: Overcoming the Inability to Receive
Are you frustrated with your inability to receive?
This voice says something like, “I just can’t receive, no matter what I do!”
God responded to this voice, “It’s not about your difficulty in receiving, I positioned you and designed you to receive.”
Proverbs 24:2-4 (NIV) says:
3 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;
4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of what Christ accomplished on your behalf releases rare and beautiful treasures. God doesn’t just have wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, He wants to release it to you (Ephesians 1:17 – 21, Ephesians 3:16 – 21, James 1:5)!
Remember that faith comes by hearing not just any word (scriptures), but encountering the One Who is the Word – Christ and His glorious gospel (Romans 10:17)! We are to look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of faith (Hebrews 12:2). We’re able to use His faith. Paul said that He lived by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved Him and gave Himself up for Him (Galatians 2:20). Christ is infinitely confident about what the work of the cross accomplished! You can totally ride on His faith!
So here’s my suggestion:
Retreat back to your relationship with God where you are lavishly loved. Soak in that love for as long as you need. Faith will naturally arise because faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). Let God minister His faith to you!
Hindrance #6: Overcoming the Fear of Disappointment and Deferred Hope
Are you afraid to get your hopes up? This fearful voice says something like, “I’ve been so disappointed in the past, I can’t risk getting my hopes up again!”
When I asked the Lord about this as well and He said, “It’s not about your past disappointment. I AM the One Who loves that fear right out of you. I AM the One Who reignites that hope back into your heart.”
Romans 5:4-6 (TPT) says:
4 And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. 5 And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!
Connecting with your oneness to God ignites hope
This is brought out in Colossians 1:27 (TPT):
27 Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!
Wherever ‘hope deferred has made your heart sick,’ remember you are One with Christ. Proverbs 13:12 says:
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Christ is the tree of life and the fulfiller of your heart’s longings (Psalm 37:4)!
Therefore, here’s my suggestion to you:
Bring your greatest disappointments before the Lord and pour out your heart to Him – all the hurt and anger. Get honest! Forgive Him for every area where it feels as if He’s let you down. Give yourself permission to do this for as long as you need. God is the only One Who can handle all your pains.
Then be still.
Let Him minister to you (Psalm 46:10). Linger there. Let Him reignite hope and love away all that fear! You may need repeated doses. That’s OK. You’re worth it!
I hope this has brought you freedom and help! Let me know how this is impacting you and join me for Part 4 next week!

Catherine
