How many of you have, at some point, felt a stirring to greatness? As if the “you” on the inside were greater than the “you” on the outside.
I would put money on the truth that many of you have – even if it was at a very young age. For so many of us, the sad truth is that this sense of greatness was beaten out of us. And that is a tragedy. But the happy news is that you are marked by Love, not only for love, but for greatness – long before the enemy of your soul ever messed with you!
How do I know that? I am so glad you asked!
The Image of God
First of all, you were made in the image and fashioned in the likeness of God. Genesis 1:26-27 (MSG) puts it:
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
You were created to reflect God – to reflect the Person of Love, because God is Love (1 John 4: 8, 16). The greatest of the things that remain of faith, hope and love is love (1 Corinthians 13:13)! You have His nature as your true nature – your nature of origin. Since you have His nature, greatness is already inside of you!
What about a sin nature?
What about sin? Our nature is original innocence. We were created without spot or blemish (Ephesians 1:4-6) before the foundation of the world. We are new creations without fallenness in our true nature. This happened mystically on the cross when the old man (Adamic nature or sin nature or the flesh) was crucified with Christ and humanity was raised a new creation in Him as righteous as He is (2 Corinthians 5:17,21; Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, 1 John 4:17). The reason we sin is not because of a sin nature, but the fallen mindsets (programs, false identities, habits, strongholds) called the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13). Put simply – we sin because we don’t know who we are! This is a complex subject that is crucial to dive into and meditate on. For more on this you can go to my blog series, Forgiveness and Freedom and Does God Distance Himself When We Sin? as well as Embracing What is Right with You. It is important to get the sin issue settled in or hearts, because sin can veil and hinder the expression of our inherent greatness, even if it does not eradicate it.
God’s Poetry
You were also created in Love and He delighted in you before the foundation of the world. He ordained you with unstained innocence (Ephesians 1:4). That is your nature and the starting point to manifest the greatness inside.
God has fixed eternity in our hearts (Ephesians 3:11). That means at some point, every human being has the knowledge of their own greatness and of something—Someone—greater than themselves (Romans 1:20). This “greater one” made us; We are His workmanship:
Ephesians 2:10 (TPT) says:
10 We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!
The Amplified Version calls us His workmanship, own master work, a work of art.
So, my question to you is this: How good of a job did Jesus, Papa and Holy Spirit do?
Manifesting Greatness
The greatness of God is inside you. That is why we need to work out our already completed salvation (Philippians 2:12). We are complete and great in Christ and get to awaken to that greatness. As we realize who God made us to be, we work out that greatness from the inside out (Colossians 2:10).
This is why even creation is groaning for the manifestation or the unveiling of the sons of God (Romans 8:18-20). Creation is groaning for YOUR unveiling. The world needs the manifestation of the greatness inside you!
Avoiding False Humility and Pride
You see, when we make this life about us, we either get depressed (false humility) or prideful. When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus—even when it is about us— we see ourselves rightly. We start to see ourselves as glorious. We look just like Him (1 John 4:17). We are engineered for exploits in our flavor (Daniel 11:32). We are little “g” gods, made in the image of big “G” Gods (Psalm 82:6, John 10:34-35). We are of His essence. However, we are not God Himself. We are His children, friends, and Bride. We are one with Him. We did not create ourselves. We are not our Source. Keeping ourselves mindful of these truths keeps us operating in true humility, while manifesting the greatness within.
So, continue to grapple with greatness. You are a unique flavor of the Greatest one of all. YOU are a flavor of Love the world needs!
I trust this has been a blessing! What has God been revealing to you about your greatness? I would love to know!
XO,
Catherine
