God in Hot Pursuit

God is in hot pursuit for you!

He is Love and Love is unabashedly passionate about His kids!

Sometimes, we inadvertently think that this is only about “saving the lost”!

Salvation for the Lost Parts of Ourselves

The truth is, we eventually break down in any area of our lives where we are not able to connect with our oneness in and with Christ/the Godhead and what that means from a finished work perspective. That area in our lives, minds, and hearts may still be functioning, but cannot be completely whole – especially God’s version of wholeness. In some way it is “lost”.

When the Word says, “you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24) and we struggle with unbelief, that lost area of our hearts and minds needs “saving” ; when the Word says we have been made “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:21) and we are struggling with a sin issue, that part of our minds and hearts needs “saving” ; when we find ourselves struggling to pay our bills or for a godly thing we simply desire and the Word says that He wants us to “prosper and be in health even as our souls prosper” (3 John 1:2), that part of our hearts and minds needs “saving”.

The Mission Statement of Christ

Did you know Jesus had a mission statement? We find it in Luke 19:10:

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. (NASB, emphasis added)

Traditionally, we have read this is as the lost. However you interpret this, God wants every person to come to a saving knowledge of Him. But what was lost at the fall of the first Adam? The answer is, the whole human race and all of creation!

The Lie of Separation from God

The lie of separation from God came in. Fear and shame came in. Death came in. Sickness came in. Relational fallout came in. Sin marred and is marring everything it can get its twisted hands on. The earth became barren. People began to struggle to eek out a living. Aging and decay entered. And so on, and so on, and so on.

This is why creation groans for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God. The NASB version words it this way in Romans 8:19-21:

19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

One with God

In the same chapter, the Second Adam (Jesus the Christ), because of the finished work of the cross loudly proclaims:

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ?  (NASB, emphasis added)

We are sons and daughters, who have an inheritance because of the flawless performance of Christ not because of our own performance. God did His part and we have no part except to receive it. And we can’t even do that part by ourselves. Indeed, the word says apart from Christ we can do nothing! (John 15:5) We need His faith, even to receive Him as Savior and Lord. We need supernatural empowerment to renew our minds so that we can be transformed and our lives can be transformed.

The Pursuit of God

God is in holy hot pursuit, desiring to help us repent (change our minds) to agree with what He did for us so that we would simply receive as beloved sons and daughters. When we do that, everything that needs “saving” will manifest in line with the heart and will of our glorious gracious loving Father!
