How Do I Find My Purpose? Part Three

Clues to Your Destiny

In Part 1 & 2 I discussed the truth that God has amazing plans for you, which are revealed out of the place of intimacy. You will want to read those first. In this part,  I get more practical because a good foundation has been laid.

The Hope of God’s Calling

Last time we discussed how intimacy with God is the place where we become settled intoWho God is and Who we are. Intimacy with God also prevents us from making our purpose an idol and empowers to fulfill our purpose.

Lastly, intimacy with God positions us to actually understand what our purpose is.

Jeremiah 33:2-3 (AMP) says:

2 “Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is His name, 3 ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.

God reveals our purpose bit by bit.

As we walk in what we know, more is revealed (Psalm 119:105).

It is Holy Spirit who enlightens the eyes of our understanding so that we know the hope of His calling and our inheritance in Him (Ephesians 1:18), as well as His power to fulfill His calling (Ephesians 1:19).

As I said, this is unveiled bit by bit and we need to discern those “bits”.

Connecting the Dots

We need to connect the dots.

God has scattered many  clues throughout our lives.

And here is where we get practical (God is very practical). Ask Him to enlighten your eyes so you can see the clues throughout your life.

Sit down with Him and journal your answers to the following questions.

Clues to Unveil Your Purpose

What has been your greatest struggle?

What has been your greatest confusion?

What has God already seen you through?

What makes you feel alive when you connect to it?

What things did you connect to a child that made you feel a part of something greater than you?

      What do you enjoy doing?

What do you love to do that you would do for free?

What makes you feel most fulfilled?

What is the Lord asking you to do that scares you?

      What promises has God made?

What things has God spoken over your life directly or through people?

What things has God spoken over your life that you have forgotten? (you will need to sit with this and have Him remind you)

What is God prompting you to step into that is impossible?

Where have you compromised what God really was prompting you to do? You’ll need to go back and ask Him to show you what He really intended.

What injustice makes you really angry?

What gifts, talents, and strengths seem to come easy to you?

What thing are you supposed to do that you have put off till “some day”?

What experiences have molded you and prepared you?

When you have these answered as best you can, you will have a bunch of dots.

Gather your answers together and you will start to see some patterns. These are clues to your purpose.

As you look at these patterns, which ones seem to have life?

Talk to God about them. Ask Him to show you the next step.

You will fulfill your purpose step by step.

As you walk this out, your purpose will become clearer and clearer.

Go back to these questions every so often for more clarity.

If you need help with the journaling part, you will want to use the Love Encounter Breaks in “Marked by Love,” the book or the workbook, to help you with the process.

I believe this series has been a blessing to you. I’d love to hear from you!

Much Love,

Catherine
