I was recently talking to the Lord about a long-standing promise regarding my teenage son, Robert, who has been struggling with autism since age 2. God stirred up this word, “As you see, it shall be.” So, I reviewed what I had been seeing in my mind. What I saw with my natural eyes was rugged. BUT I could also see glorious visions of wholeness and vibrancy. I could hear words about Robert’s future.
I clearly had a choice. What was I going to look at?
Fortunately, I have spent a LOT of time practicing looking at what God shows me, so it wasn’t too difficult. I had strengthened this muscle over through years and years of practice. But I didn’t start there.
Receiving Wisdom and Revelation
The visions and words of God’s heart for us individually ignite faith – His faith – and rest. It truly is supernatural. Let’s unpack this further. Ephesians 1:17 – 19 (TPT) is a powerhouse treasure for us. Let’s go verse by verse so we can partake of it. Ephesians 1:17 (TPT) says.
17 I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him.
I love this so much! Paul’s prayer is to know Father God in ever-deepening intimacy. This requires Holy Spirit’s wisdom and revelation imparted to us. Another word for revelation is discovery. Papa wants us to discover His heart in an ever-deepening way. What happens when we discover more and more about Father God and Jesus? 2 Peter 1:2 (TPT) answers this beautifully.
2 May grace and perfect peace cascade over you as you live in the rich knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Other translations say grace and peace are multiplied unto us. Cascading multiplied grace and perfect peace – I vote for that! And I bet you do too!
Seeing Light in the Darkness
Paul continued with His prayer in Ephesians 1:18-19 (TPT):
18 I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!
19 I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power
Here, God illuminates the eyes of our imagination. These are the eyes of our hearts (innermost beings). We have been blinded because of the fall of humanity in Genesis. Light is everywhere but we need help seeing it. John 1:3–5, 10 (TPT) addresses this so powerfully!
3 And through his creative inspiration
this Living Expression made all things,
for nothing has existence apart from him!
4 Life came into being because of him,
for his life is light for all humanity.
5 And this Living Expression is the Light that bursts through gloom—
the Light that darkness could not diminish!
10 He entered into the very world he created,
yet the world was unaware.
The Living Expression is the “Logos” – Christ is the Word. Note in verse 3 that nothing has existed apart from Him! In verse 4, Christ’s life is the light for all humanity. That light cannot be diminished (verse 5). So, why are we experiencing darkness when light is everywhere? Verse 10 answers that question. We are blind and need to awaken to the light that we are unaware of.
Experiencing Hope
We need Holy Spirit to enlighten our eyes/flood our hearts with His light that is already present! What is the result? Ephesians 1: 18 – 19 tell us:
- You experience the full revelation of the hope of Father God’s calling.
- You experience the wealth of God’s glorious inheritance that He finds in us, His holy ones!
- You experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith.
- Your life becomes an advertisement of His immense power as it works through you.
1. You experience the full revelation of the hope of the Father’s calling.
What has the Father called us to? Romans 8: 16 – 30 unpacks our calling: to be unveiled as glorious sons and daughters – as beloved members of God’s family. This is so monumental that creation is groaning for it.
- You experience the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances!
Romans 8: 16 – 30 reveals our status as co-heirs with Christ. That means, whatever He is, you are (1 John 4:17), and whatever He has, you have. His greatest treasure is to partake of His relationship with His Father and Holy Spirit (Matthew 11:27)All of that vast treasure is inside you along with all the promises of God! Moreover, Father God wants you to KNOW that you ARE His treasure, along with all of humanity! Knowing this releases God’s faith for all you need and want because you are so vastly loved, and faith works by Love (Galatians 5:6).
- You experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith.
All of God’s glory is inside you (Colossians 1:27). Glory is powerful. This is the same power that raised Christ from the dead. The same power raised you as a new creation without spot or blemish (Romans 6:3, 5, 11, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 21). Your old sinful/fallen/Adamic nature was crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). (For more on this you can read my blogs: Does God Distance from Us When We Sin series and, especially, view my video teaching, Does the Believer Really Have a Sin Nature?
God’s power is not in short supply, because God is Love and Love never fails (1 John 4:8,16; 1 Corinthians 13:8),
- Your life becomes an advertisement of His immense power as it works through you.
We display God by our love for one another and are His ambassadors (John 13:35, 2 Corinthians 5:19-21).
See in The Spirit
So, let me pray for YOUR eyes to be enlightened.
Father God, thank You that You are wild about your son/daughter! Thank you that, if you gave them Christ, You will not withhold any lesser thing from them! Papa, enlighten the eyes of your son’s/daughter’s heart to connect them with a specific hope of Your calling, the inheritance in them and of them, and Your power towards them. Help them rest and receive in Jesus’s name!
Now let yourself relax and let Love speak to you in internal words, thoughts, pictures, feelings, impressions, knowings, or other manifestations. Jot down anything you receive, however small. Don’t worry if it is you, God or the devil. God lives in you and it is a promise that you can “hear” His voice! Rest and let it flow. He wants to speak to you more than you want to hear Him! Spend some time. Reflect on what you receive.
You can always go back and receive more from Him. Practice will make you really good at this!
If you need additional help and practice you will want to get or go back to my “Marked by Love” book.
I’d love to hear what God shows you as He illuminates the eyes of your understanding. Please share!
Love,
Catherine
You are so welcome and I answered your questions about the words you don’t understand. If you ever want to look any word up on your own you can look it up at: https://www.merriam-webster.com/. But I can help you with the definitions.
This is exactly what I needed, I need practice and needed to know HOW to do it.
THank you
Yay – so very glad! I am very big on not just what but how! Thanks for letting me know!
