How to See the Glory Inside

Recap

In my last blog, I gave you practical insight to unveil the real you. Who doesn’t want a transformation, right?!

To help you unpack this crazygloriousrightnow reality, I want to take you to the one transfiguration in the word of God that most believers think of: the transfiguration Christ. When one of my mentors, Schlyce Jimenez, first taught on this, I could not get my mind off of it. In fact, I have happily and magnificently obsessed with it ever since!

The Unveiling of Christ

Let’s take a look at Matthew 16:13 – 18:

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” 15 He *said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. (NASB)

Notice, it was huge for Peter to recognize the reality of who Jesus was – so much so, that the rock of the revelation of Christ is the bedrock of the overcoming church!

The Unveiling of Peter

Note as well, this revelation transformed Peter from (Simon= small rock or stone) to Peter (larger rock). As the true nature of Christ was unveiled, the true nature of Peter was unveiled. But this was not all. Look at the next chapter in context.

Six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. (Matthew 17:1-3, NASB)

Jesus unveiled in the heart of Peter was followed by the transfiguration or transformation of Christ, so that the glory inside was made evident. The heavenly membrane was peeled back, and not only was Christ transfigured, but also Moses, signifying the law, and Elijah, signifying the prophets were made plain. Jesus was pointed towards by the law and the prophets. (Matthew 11:13, John 1:45, Romans 3:21)

So, what does this mean for you and me? I’m glad you asked!

The Glorious Unveiling of You

When Christ is revealed in your heart (apart from the law that veils him), you are literally transfigured from glory to glory!!

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (TPT) says:

17 Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom.

18 We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

You, Transfigured

There are three places in scripture where the word “transformed” or “transfigured” (Greek: metamorphoō) is used: Matthew 17:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18, and Romans 12:2.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.(Romans 12:2, NASB)

The word for “world” is not the usual word “cosmos” but actually is the word “aiōn”, which is better translated “age” meaning the age of the law. You see the law veiled/veils Christ (2 Corinthians 4:15-16). When Christ is unveiled then WE can be unveiled (2 Corinthian 4:17-18)!

We are renewing or renovating (anakainōsis)our minds so that we can be transfigured from glory, to glory, to glory!

THIS is the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God. (Romans 8:19-22)

Intimate Knowledge of God

True, accurate, intimate knowledge of God releases grace, peace, everything for life and godliness, and the ability to share in the divine nature (2 Peter 1:2-4)! It is eternal life (John 17:3). It is what roots us in love and fills us with the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 3:15-19). It is resurrection power (Philippians 3:10-11).

So, Beloved, keep gazing at the Lord, meditating on Who He is, and letting Him lead you and guide you into all truth. You are looking more glorious all the time!!!
