I recently heard the Lord say out of the blue, “Unwrap My beauty.”
Wow! I had to sit with this a bit.
As I engaged the Lord, He continued.
“Unwrap My beauty, I want to show you yourself.”
Whoa….
Okaaaaay, Lord. Hmmm.
He was smiling as I grappled with it.
What kind of God is so lovely that He reveals who His kids are by unveiling His own beauty? How beautiful is God, to make Himself vulnerable to and to be enthralled with the beauty of His creation?
I started focusing and meditating on His beauty.
Psalm 45:10-12 (NIV) says:
10 Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention:
Forget your people and your father’s house.
11 Let the king be enthralled by your beauty;
honor him, for he is your lord.
When God, speaking through His written word, says to listen and pay careful attention, it is time to sit up.
Humanity has the tendency to get drowsy, lethargic, careless and forgetful. It is the weakness of our frame.
Sometimes we need to shake ourselves awake.
So how do we awaken to reality? We forget how we’ve been wrongly defined by people – perhaps the ones we grew up with. This is crucial because the reality of our true nature gets veiled by lies.
Sometimes we need to forget the false in order to remember the truth.
We are intrinsically beautiful because we were made in the image and likeness of a breathtakingly beautiful God.
Psalm 45 goes on in verse 12:
…let the King be enthralled by your beauty.
Wow! I want to pause on the word, “let.”
Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 17:14, 19:16).
That means we are kings and lords and He is our supreme King and Overlord. But even with that He asks instead of imposing. “Let me…”
God is so lovely! When it comes to the human heart, He asks, knocks, and woos; He doesn’t force.
He never violates love.
This verse reveals how God wants to unveil His bride.
He wants to be enthralled with your beauty!
Psalm 45:11 (TPT) words the same verse:
11 For your royal Bridegroom is ravished by your beautiful brightness.
Bow in reverence before him, for he is your Lord!
How is it possible that we ravish the heart of our Bridegroom, Jesus?
We look just like Him!
Song of Solomon 4:9-10 (NKJV) says:
9 You have ravished my heart, My sister, my spouse;
You have ravished my heart
With one look of your eyes,
With one link of your necklace.
10 How fair is your love, My sister, my spouse!
How much better than wine is your love,
And the scent of your perfumes
Than all spices!
We are the bride of Christ and His sister by our re-birth!
How amazing – we have an intoxicating effect on our Husband and Brother!
Understand as well that Jesus, Father God and Holy Spirit are one. Each member of the Trinity has chosen to be exquisitely vulnerable to us!
How utterly beautiful is that?!
I can’t get over it.
But the truth is He can’t get over us!
Jesus said to me one time, “Catherine, you have no idea what you do to me!”
Whoa!
The law has defined us as sinful, shameful, less than, not measuring up…
But God is very clear about His kids – He is not confused! He defines us as worthy of love, worthy of His perfect Son!
When Adam and Eve ran off to hide in shame because of sin, God asked them “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). He knew where they were, but He was asking them to locate themselves. Adam and Eve fell for the lie of separation from God brought on by their new association with the serpent. When Adam said they were hiding because they were naked, God retorted back, “Who told you were naked (Genesis 3:11)?!”
When our former associations (Psalm 45:10 calls this “your father’s house”) tell us that we are shameful and naked – we need to FORGET! And we need to let the Lord minister His love and His adoration for the beauty and innocence that we really bear!
As we gaze upon the glorious, holy beauty of Jesus, we see He is so safe and all Love. This heals and empowers us to forget shame and fear and any sense of nakedness. This lets the Lord unveil us to be enthralled with our true beauty.
When God is unveiled to you, He unveils you! And we look just like Him!
So what do YOU need to forget?
What do you need to know?
What do you need to remember?
These are all questions to ask yourself and present to the Lord. He will minister to you here!
You are beautiful!
You are marked by Love!
XO,
Catherine
