It is a lovely late summer/early fall day as I write this. The leaves are just starting to turn. I look out at my daughter Veronica’s little garden in the back yard with its modest harvest that delights her so much. I think of her beautiful spirit and think, SHE truly is delightful!
I see God nodding with pleasure. I hear Him say, “Tell My sons/daughters of My delight in them.”
I feel a breeze caressing my face and hair where there is no breeze. I hear Holy Spirit laughing—a delightful playful laugh.
We are loved.
We are delighted in.
Pain in life, and the way it twists us, lies to us that we are forgotten, unlovely, unworthy, unloved, and alone.
We may have done despicable things, but WE are not what we have or haven’t done.
We are who we were made to be at our core.
It is the One Who designed us and delighted in us from our beginning Who is about the process of conforming us into the image of our Elder Brother, in our flavor.
He is masterful. He is relentless. He is Love. And He delights in us!
I encourage you to read the following passage—it’s lengthy, but it is beautiful poetry and will bless you!
Proverbs 8:22‒31 (The Passion Translation) says:
Wisdom in the Beginning
“In the beginning I was there, for God possessed me even before he created the universe.
From eternity past I was set in place, before the world began.
I was anointed from the beginning.
Before the oceans depths were poured out, and before there were any glorious fountains overflowing with water, I was there, dancing!
Even before one mountain had been sculpted or one hill raised up, I was already there, dancing!
When he created the earth, the fields, even the first atom of dust,
I was already there.
When he hung the tapestry of the heavens and stretched out the horizon of the earth, when the clouds and skies were set in place and the subterranean fountains began to flow strong, I was already there.
When he set in place the pillars of the earth and spoke the decrees of the seas, commanding the waves so that they wouldn’t overstep their boundaries, I was there, close to the Creator’s side as his master artist. Daily he was filled with delight in me as I playfully rejoiced before him.
I laughed and played, so happy with what he had made, while finding my delight in the children of men.”
(emphasis added)
Brian Simmons comments:
“What a beautiful picture we find here of Wisdom (Christ), who finds his fulfillment in us” (see Ps. 8:4–9 and 16:3; Eph. 2:10 and 19–22; and Heb. 2:10).
Interestingly, Wisdom in the verses above is a personification of God and actually is Christ (Is. 11:2, John 1:1-3, and Heb. 1:2), the Master Artist. The word wisdom here, is the Hebrew word ḥāḵmâ, a feminine noun. It is an astounding mystery of how the masculine Christ carries femininity. But this makes sense considering He died for ALL humanity, masculine and feminine.
For more on this enigma, I will be coming out with a book soon on God, male and female, which is fresh, beautiful, and faithful to scripture, that will help us grapple with it in wonder. Stay tuned!
Of particular note for this focus is God’s delight in us!
His/Her joy is irrepressible as Yᵊhōvâ creates the world in and through and for Him/Her, finding particular delight in children of men—in YOU!
See some of the language highlighted in the verses above:
- I was there dancing
- I was already there dancing
- his master artist
- playfully rejoiced
- laughed and played
- so happy with what he had made
- finding my delight in the children of men
You are apparently so beautiful and delightful to God that He literally dances. This is not the only place we see this. Zephaniah 3:17 (English Standard Version) says:
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
(emphasis added)
I love this verse, as I am sure so many of you do. I love the fact that He not only rejoices over you, but He does it with gladness. Not only that, the Hebrew word for “rejoice” is the word gîl, which in its root means to spin round (under the influence of any violent emotion). He is not sedate in His passion for you. He doesn’t rejoice over you because it is in His job description and He has to. He is quite boisterous, exulting with loud singing over you.
Wow, you must be a big deal!
In fact, you truly are!
He is smitten. You are simply delighted in!
Sit with that a bit!
Let Holy Spirit minister loving delight over you!
He/She LONGS for you to know this at your core. It is your birthright as His adored child!
Let me know how this impacts you!
Much love,
Catherine
I am thrilled this lifted you up and made you smile – especially today!
You know because you are His workmanship (or poetry) and He created you in love! Ephesians 2:10 TPT says: 10We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! and Ephesians 1:4 TPT 4And in love he chose us before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence.
