God Carries What You Can’t: The Truth About Faith, Strength, and Your Sacred Process

Faith from God

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m not strong enough for this,” or “I must not have enough faith or this wouldn’t be so hard”?

Me too.

Those moments of weariness, fear, or emotional exhaustion can make us feel like spiritual failures. Like somehow, being overwhelmed means we’re doing it wrong. That we should be powering through. That we should be able to “faith” our way out of the struggle.

But what if I told you the pressure to carry it all was never from God?

What if I told you that the places where you feel weakest aren’t signs of defeat—they’re invitations to dive into your union with Christ in a deeper way?

Because here’s the liberating truth: You were never meant to carry this alone.

The Lie of Self-Sufficiency (And Why It’s So Common)

We live in a culture that idolizes strength and independence. Even in the church, we’ve sometimes equated faith with stoicism—as if the more “together” you look, the stronger your faith must be.

But that’s not what scripture teaches. And it’s not what Jesus modeled.

So many of us internalize the idea that real faith looks like being unfazed. That we’re supposed to press on, pull ourselves up, and never let anyone see us sweat.

But when we do that, we unintentionally shut down our need for help—and in doing so, we close ourselves off from the very grace meant to sustain us.

My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Being “too cool for school” is actually immature and prideful.

The truth is, God is not ashamed of your need. He’s not waiting for you to “get it together” so He can finally bless you. He doesn’t withhold comfort or empowerment until you pass some invisible test.

Instead, He meets you in the middle of your fatigue, your frustration, your fear, your inadequacies—and He offers Himself.

This blog is for the anyone who feels like they’re failing at being “strong” and “enough”
It’s for the one who keeps showing up, but wonders if they’re doing it wrong because it still hurts.
It’s for the one who’s tired of trying to be enough.

You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone

When we think of faith, we often imagine it as something we’re supposed to conjure up on our own—a spiritual muscle we have to flex hard enough until the breakthrough comes.

But here’s the gospel truth: God doesn’t just ask us to believe—He supplies the faith. One of my favorite quotes from my “Marke by Love” book, as a favorite because it still ministers to me today!

Your job is to believe. And God’s job is to help you with your job!

Romans 12:3 says that God has dealt to each of us a measure of faith. That means it’s a gift. A deposit. A provision that God Himself can empower.

In How to Hear from God, I write:

God wants to be known. He speaks and wants to be heard; and He has given you the inherent capacity to connect with Him more and more on an experiential level.

That means even your faith journey is one you get to walk with Him—not for Him.

And not only that—God is not annoyed, impatient or angry with your process.

You don’t need to fear that He’s disappointed in you when you struggle. He’s not checking your spiritual report card to see if you qualify for comfort or breakthrough.

Instead, He draws near.
He whispers when you’re weary.
He lifts when you’re low.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand – Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

The Passion Translation words Isaiah 41:10:

Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me,  for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.’

You were never meant to be “enough” without Him.

The Christian life isn’t about willpower—it’s about union with the One Who empowers!

Gift of Faith

Faith Isn’t a Test—It’s a Gift

I remember a season where I was clinging to God with everything I had—but still feeling like I was coming up short.

I prayed. I fasted. I quoted scripture. I did all the “right” things. And still, nothing changed—at least not the way I wanted it to.

In those moments, it was tempting to believe the lie: “Maybe I just don’t have enough faith.”

But Holy Spirit interrupted that narrative with something tender and transformative:

“Beloved, you don’t have to conjure faith. I gave it to you. You are to use My faith. And I’m holding you in it.”

Let that sink in:
Faith is not a performance metric. It’s not a spiritual test you have to pass.

It’s a gift. A lifeline. A sacred connection to the One Who never lets go and Who has ALL the faith

My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one!  My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!. – Galatians 2:20 (TPT, emphasis added)

The source of your faith is not your striving. It’s of Him and from Him because of His fathomless love for you!

In moments where we feel like we’re losing our grip, we’re actually being invited into a deeper awareness of His grip on us.

That’s the beauty of God’s grace: even when your belief falters, He stays faithful.

And if this resonates with you, I encourage you to revisit The Myth of Striving blog. It dives deep into the ways performance-based living keeps us from the intimacy and grace God longs for us to experience.

Union Over Hustle: Grace That Empowers the Process

Let’s be honest: in Christian culture, we’ve sometimes elevated hustle to a spiritual virtue. We take pride in our business.

We admire the one who never quits, who powers through, who keeps believing even when all hope seems lost. And yes—there’s beauty in perseverance. But only when it’s grace-fueled, not guilt-driven; love-empowered, not performance or perfectionism driven.

So many believers feel pressure to “say the right thing”—to speak faith, hope, or healing into their lives and others’. But the truth is, you’re not speaking alone. You were never meant to.

In my blog The Tongue’s Impact, I share this powerful reminder:

“You are always prophesying your future—with every word you speak.”

But what fuels those words matters. If your declarations are coming from exhaustion and fear, they won’t bring life. But if they come from union with God—anchored in grace because of Love—they release heaven on earth.

That’s the difference.

We don’t speak to make something happen. We speak because something already has—because Love Himself is alive within us, supplying the words, the power, and the hope.

Your process isn’t something to be rushed.
It’s not something to be hidden (unless He has you in a hidden place) and nothing ever to be ashamed of.
It’s something to be honored—because God is present in every part of it.

In Rare & Beautiful Treasures, I share:

“He does not gloss over the ugly, but honors you and honors your heart.”

God isn’t impatient with your pace. He’s not disappointed by your delays. He’s right there—present in your process, whispering life into your soul, empowering you with grace that lifts the pressure off your shoulders.

Strength in Weakness

What to Do When You Feel Weak, Worn Out, or Wavering

So what do we do when we hit those moments—the ones where we want to quit, break down, or hide?

First, pause.
Breathe.

Go deep inside to connect with God.

Ask for His grace to rest.
Then let God carry you.

Here are a few simple ways to reconnect when it feels like everything is too much:

  • Ask for His faith. You don’t need to conjure your own. Say, “Jesus, help me receive the faith You’ve given me. And help me to connect and flow from Your faith.
  • Invite Him into your weakness. Don’t hide the struggle. Let Him meet you in it.
  • Practice awareness. Whisper, “God, where are You right now in this situation? Who are you for me right now?”—then listen.
  • Speak truth over yourself:
“I am not alone. I am not failing. I am deeply loved and I am being carried.”

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Your Process Is Precious

Let me say it clearly:

You’re not weak for needing help.
You’re not faithless because you’re tired.
You’re not behind because you’re still healing.

You’re in process—and your process is precious.

God isn’t waiting for you at the finish line with arms crossed. He’s walking beside you, every step of the way. He carries what you can’t. He supplies what you lack. And He doesn’t shame you for needing Him—He rejoices in being your strength.

So no, you’re not failing. You’re depending.

And in the Kingdom, that’s not weakness—it’s the point.

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you. – Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)

Let that sink in:
You are carried.
You are loved.
You are supplied.

And you don’t have to figure it all out today. You just have to say yes to the One Who already has.
